Phuket Alternative Tours is seeking new Providers who are environmentally minded and actively ensuring the environment is not harmed in any way during a tour/service they provide, and offer quality tours that are rewarding to their clients.
The first reason to list on this web site is to promote your environmently friendly tours and services.
The second reason for this site is to promote your business so you can offer quality tours, showing visitors and locals alike, our wonderful environment, and that it can be viewed and enjoyed by all when using environmentally aware practices.
The third reason for this site is to promote your tour or service so that your clients get a personal, high quality experience, away from the mass tourism generaly accociated with Phuket and large tour groups.
New Providers should be providing tours/services that are not geared to mass tourism, but rather individuals or small groups of tourist. This is for a personal experience for the tourist, and is always preferred when interacting with any wildlife.
Members must abide by the following rules as outlined in our Environmental & Cultural Code of Practice:
IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS:
Seek out, develop, and participate in opportunities to improve the environmental awareness of the tourism industry as a whole, including participation in "clean up days", training events for staff, and other activities.
MINIMIZE WASTE: Practice sound rubbish disposal, ensuring visited sites are undamaged by clients, minimize waste, and behave in an environmentally sound way in all places visited and services offered.
WILDLIFE INTERACTION: Ensure any interaction of staff and clients with wildlife is appropriate, and not damaging to the wildlife concerned or the environment. This shall not include meat and seafood which is harvested or produced in an environmentally sustainable manner.
QUALITY EXPERIENCE FOR CLIENTS: Seek out, develop, and deliver a high quality experience to clients that is rewarding to the client and not damaging to the environment or wildlife.
RESPECT FOR OTHERS:
Ensure clients respect the beliefs and practices of our host country, and are briefed, as appropriately, when visiting temples, cultural, and other sites.
APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR: Inform clients of appropriate behavior, language, and dress in relation to any places visited.
SMALL GROUPS: For any tour or service provided, only small groups or individuals are preferred. This is to ensure a quality, personal tour or service for the client and is not providing mass tourism.
ACCURATE INFORMATION:
Provide clients prior to a tour or service, relevant and complete information to ensure clients have the best choice for product options.
Prior to being listed on our web site and granted a Code of Practice Certificate, we would like review your tour/service with you in person and our Executive Group will make a determination on your eligibility for placement on our site.
Listing on our site and being a Provider of Phuket Alternative Tours is FREE of charge. We charge a very small commission (5%) for tours/services you book based on a client coming to you through our web site. We DO NOT do any booking for you, clients must book through you, and if they mention they seen your tour/service through Phuket Alternative Tours web site, we earn the commission for bringing the client to you.
Our commission is on an honor system between Phuket Alternative Tours and Provider tour/service companies.
We will have email forms available soon for most Providers listed, so that a potential client can contact you directly from our web site.
